Citrine is a golden-yellow to amber variety of quartz whose warm coloration is associated with iron found within its crystal structure. Natural citrine is relatively rare and forms in geological environments where heat and mineral conditions alter the color centers within quartz over long periods of time. Notable natural deposits are found in Brazil, Madagascar, Zambia, Bolivia, and parts of the United States.
